I've got a business lunch at Hard 8 in Coppell today, anyone ever been there?
Looks good on the website. https://hardeightbbq.com/menu/The loudest voice for tolerance comes from the most intolerant people.👍 2Comment

Yep brisket and flank were considered scraps and only the best could cook em up right and tender!👍 1Comment

Fun place, I've liked the food but like most places a lot of people call it over rated.
Going during peak times will probably be best, because I have been there when some of the meat may have been sitting for a bit longer than is ideal.

I have been to 3 Hard 8's.
Coppell - my experience was the same as pied.
Roanoke - been several times, brisket is good but I like their specialty meats.
Stephenville - we heard people ordering "juicy" and that sounded great so we did the same. It was basically a disgusting pile of fat. We had ordered it to take to a park and eat so I just threw a couple of pounds to the ducks. Awful.
I thought I had been to The Colony location but I can't remember it so no comment.👍 1Comment

As any FYI - you walk through the pits where they['re cooking/smoking and get your meats and then go inside through a line to get your sides.
Also - they have pinto beans for free and you can get as much as you want. The beans are by the sauces and drink stations. If you're cheap or just rather have beans than other sides keep that in mind. There is seating inside and outside. Also I think most if not all tables are the big kind with a bunch of chairs, so going outside or farther back may be better for a work type lunch.
Like I said, I like the food, but think the atmosphere and setup are kinda cool especially for out of towners. It is the place that underwhelmed the kids from Liverpool lol, but consider the source on that. )👍 1Comment

Only been to the Coppell and Colony ones, mostly The Colony so my seating advice may or may not apply to the Coppell location.👍 1Comment

Y'all are pretty lucky living where all the great bbq is at hand. IMO there are no great places in Midland or here. We have Dickeys and the bbq place in one of the HEBs. A great great for me is the Rudys in Del Rio.
We ate at a place called Coopers in Llano years ago. It was good.Last edited by mojotrain; 05-18-2023, 02:30 PM.👍 3Comment

Asked for them to pull out a fresh brisket, they did. I asked for the tip trimmed and sliced, they did. Had 1/2 lb of brisket, 1/2 lb of sausage, twice baked potato salad, and blackberry cobbler. The free Pinto Beans with jalapenos were great. Was absolutely phenomenal. Brisket was moist with big smoke ring, sliced properly and melt in mouth finish. Very pricey as lunch for two of us was $60. I'd do it again though. Very, very good. and y'all were right the atmosphere is excellent.Last edited by chhspantherfan; 05-18-2023, 03:27 PM.The loudest voice for tolerance comes from the most intolerant people.👍 5Comment

What was the name of the old BBQ joint in Odessa in the 70's-80's? There was another small hole in the wall over in Monohans called Reds or Fred'd BBQ. Old house with booths. Ate there a few times by in my oilfield sales days.Last edited by John Galt; 05-18-2023, 04:51 PM.👍 3Comment
