    • Just to put this in a little perspective....

Before King arrived in 2004, Longview had scored 50 or more 23 times in school history (94 football seasons). In the following 10 years since King took over....Longview has upped that total to 46. He has doubled the amount of times we've scored 50 or more in just 11 seasons.

Game shouldn't be close this week. Think THIGH gives us our best game at Grim...and even that should be a multi score win. Thigh has one of our former players who would've been contributing at RB for us this fall in Cornelius Zachary.

I don't think it'll be close. But don't think we'll be up 43 or 49 at the break.

It'll be close til half then Longview breaks it open like usual against the Mavs.

Watched Poteet beat West Mesquite. One of the best regular season games I've seen in a while. Not saying it was clean all the way, but very entertaining. A back and forth affair with 5 lead changes. A lot of good athletes on both teams. Would not be surprised if both beat Heath. I thought some stupid penalties by Poteet were going to cost them the game, but in the end West Mesquite got exposed. 4th and 5 from Poteet 25 with 1:25 to go down by 2 and after their last TO, they decide to go for it rather than try the FG to win. There was virtually no wind.

Poteet had one of the best bands. Very good show and good sound. And was very impressed with their crowd although they were in their own backyard.

P.S. Both of these teams would beat McKinney North or Newman Smith, IMO.

Funny I was going to say the exact same things. It was a very entertaining game for sure. That McNeal kid is a beast. It's been years since I have seen a guy that big run so fast. Poteet really packed the place and that is not easy to do at Memorial. In the end the dropped pass by West Mesquite receiver on the 3rd and 5 and failed Qb draw on fourth down doomed their chances.

West Mesquite receivers dropped numerous passes in that game. Clock management by both was suspect. #1 on Poteet was a bruising RB.

Yep that halfback pass to the qb was a sure touchdown. Both teams need to clean up the personal fouls if they want to go far in the playoffs. They penalty yards were just crazy.

                      • I'm pretty shocked at how bad South Garland has become out of that district. I really thought they would just be a .500 team, but they have just fallen apart completely. Still think Rockwall makes the district so only one of the Mesquite schools should go D1.

The big one in 16-5A is this week with Lufkin and John Tyler. Really tempted to go to it.

                        • Looking back over, Longview has scored on it's first possession of the game in all 5 games so far this season with the John Tyler game the only one we didn't score a touchdown on it.
