  • I have a conspiracy which is by no means right knowing Jon Kay.

Coach Kay could never leave NS for another high school without becoming a villain(not saying is right) so why not take a job at a bad college program with an unknown future and potentially be done in 2 years and then BAM right back at the high school level. Wild conspiracy I know.

I think all great coaches want to achieve success without it being tied to just one school.

That sweet college money will keep at the college ranks for a while, especially if he has some success.

Interesting but I think the trophy build up at one place would show real continuity and skill. I think of saban for example. Who really knows though.

Yeah but he would have to go to a good program for that to happen. I just realized that the rice HC is going on year 6 and has not had a winning season. So this may be his last go around and bam just like that he’s out

True but the expectations at Rice aren't the expectations at say Texas or A&M. He has them moving on the right direction and the administration loves the coach so he could be there for a while. Also think of it this way if he gets fired in two or three years and they want to hire from within then bam Coach Kay can then become the head coach at Rice University.

If he had won 8-9 titles and surpassed what Todd Dodge has done at the 6A level then I could potentially see that. But knowing Coach Kay he's always been one of those I'm going to have the same truck, same dog, same suit for 30 years type of guys lol.

If he does come back to the high school ranks what if he took over a program like Westfield 😳

The issue with Rice is their academic standards. They likely can only recruit 30% of the recruits everyone else is recruiting. We have a guy who committed them and I would be shocked if he holds on to that commitment. I fully believe he will get better offers and commit someplace else. I am not shocked at all that Kay moved on to the college ranks. I am somewhat surprised he went to Rice. One thing for certain is he can always return to Texas high school football and cherry pick whatever job he wants. I would exciting if he returned and took the Westfield job.

True, but maybe he wanted to do it at another place and not just at NS. Just my conspiracy. Knowing him nothing I said is applicable but like many, why rice?

If he so happens to comeback to high school and takes the WF job, go ahead and scrap any work that has started on his statue.

So again, East Houston is basically not a lot different than South Dallas in terms of player movement.

To an extent. I think the big difference here is that kids won’t necessarily transfer to certain school because of their success. They spread out(cita, creek, king) unlike in south Dallas were DV is getting all the kids right now and at some point it was Desoto or CH.
