  • ***Official North Shore Mustangs Team Thread***

So I thought I would do the honor of restarting the team thread that started it all the "Official North Shore Mustangs Team Thread". The 2014 season is the beginning of a new chapter in the storied history of our program. Coach David Aymonds steps side after 20 years on the job turning things over to Coach Jon Kay who has served as defensive coordinator since 2004. I think I can speak for all Mustang fans when I say we are all thankful for Coach Aymond did for our program taking a program no one even gave a second thought to turning it into one of the most talked about in the state. I think its safe to say many are excited to see what Coach Kay can do and where he can take the program going forward.

I agree. Coach Aymond rejuvenated the North Shore Football Program. I'm excited to see what changes and adjustments Coach Kay makes to the program.

I agree BDC. With the expectation not as high as in years past with only 7 starters returning; I still think we will have a good year. Hope we can get through the non district 2 and 2. If we do, I think we will finish 8 and 2 and hopefully a good playoff run.

What's this 8-2 talk... 10-0 regular season as far as I can tell

Yeah but you're always wearing sunglasses so your views are some times skewed.

Just trying to be realistic here, NS has a brutal non- district schedule, if they go 10-0 pencil them in at the state title game. For the past 2 years of playing manvel Ns had to play out of their minds in order to win the first game, the second game could have gone either direction, this year they return a pretty good team, only problem with them is, not very physical, more finesse and NS we all know you got to put your hard hat on when you play them. I truly hope they go 10-0 I just feel they will slip up and lose one game in pre-district and with a new coaching staff, new OL, new DL and LB's and to come out 3-1 in the pre-district would be a remarkable feat.
Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth!!!!!!

I agree with everything you said 2000. If we start off clicking on all cylinders; look out. There should be several areas especially on offense that should help us sustain drives and get off to a better start than 2013. One thing is the QB/Center exchange. Early in the year, there were so many bad snaps that were drive busters. No QB alternating. This should help rhythm, cadence and should help the OC with play calling with 1 QB. Knowing what his strengths are should make play calling better. I am not to worried about the D. Even though we only have 4 returners on D, we have Coach K and the DC is his protégé. The D will be athletic, fast and will fly to the ball.

Offense will open up, defense will remain tight, gonna be a good year

I posted that date but can't say that it is official. I was merely speculating it would be held on the 22nd seeing as the scrimmage has always be held the Friday before the season starts.
