Roy Williams at Permian.
Last deep football playoff run for Permian was when he played (knocked out by eventual state champs Duncanville).
Last time basketball made the quarterfinals was when he played.
Single handedly got Permian a 3rd place finish at the state track meet.👍 1Comment

Honestly, I can't remember if he played basketball or not, so maybe he doesn't count, but James Lott from Refugio always immediately jumps out when I think of multi sport HS athletes. His football and track days were as good as Texas has ever seen at the HS level. Heck, even at UT he was great in both.👍 1Comment

I have a tie from Odessa Permian, Britt Hager and Roy Williams. Britt was a all state football player and a state champion shotput man. Roy was a outstanding receiver or anything else on the football field and the state long jump champion. I think Roy also played basketball.
Maybe the best of all "coulda been" who as I remember focused only on football was Joe Bob Bizell. All State as a soph. Junior and senior. I know not all around but a bump to keep him among notables from the past Permian greats.
