Definitely. I wouldn't say LT will be a bad football team or anything...it's just that a few years ago they were national championship contenders, with big-time players. You could watch a future NFL wide receiver like Garrett Wilson line up. Or a guy like Hudson Card. Now they would get blown out in the first half by national powers. They were 7 and 5 last year. Whereas a few years ago, if LT lost one game it was considered a huge crisis.

As for Lake Travis, I've no idea. They're still a good program but there is a definite drop off. Perhaps they'll turn it around this year? Don't they also have a new HS being built sooner or later?
I live in Dripping, they are very good here and will be a problem for years to come. They lose a great QB, but the OC likes the power game more than passing the ball anyway (IMO he didn't throw the ball enough last year) so there shouldn't be a huge dropoff offensively. Also LT has dropped off a lot recently, not sure why. Last year they were 7 and 5, which is crazy for LT.

The 64th edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football went to press today. Subscribers should expect their magazines in the mail starting the week of June 19.
Magazines will be available in retail stores after July 4th. Retail distribution will not be as widespread as it's been in the past FYI

Is there a specific reason why the retail distribution was scaled back?

Margins are just too low now, inflation, cost of distribution, distributors not buying unsold copies back etc...its much more efficient for us to send direct to the consumer and it cuts out the middle man (the distrubutor)

Coach Dykes is on the main cover and Coach Samples is on the gatefold cover

Man, I get it. Every person has five different opinions. But, they missed it on that choice then. Samples deserved ALL the honor for the main cover himself. What he just accomplished is massively more noteworthy than what Dykes did in Texas Football country. Disappointing!

Looking at the big picture, Dykes stepped into an above average Big 12 program and took them to the National title game- without any of "his" players...Samples brought the talent of south Dallas into Duncanville and finally won a high school state championship- which many say Duncanville and Samples should be working on a 4-peat.

Like Boss Hog told Bo and Luke Duke, "it's a bidness deal"!

Not diminishing what Samples has done. A legend for sure but even when Dodge retired he didn’t get a cover alone and well I think we can all agree he’s by far a better coach than Samples. Same goes for the guy at Aledo.

I've been critical of Samples. I'm just calling it like I see it. Dykes didn't even win the Big 12.
