If the conversation is high school only then JGray is top 3 without a doubt. If College and NFL are included then thats a different story. (The team in white/red is eventual state champ Lake Travis)

I only saw Campbell as a pro, and more towards the later part of his career, but as a sip his greatness is impressed upon entry onto the 40. I have always been awed by Ken Hall’s numbers. I was lucky to see Jerrod and Cedric multiple times. They were both tremendous, I’d give the nod to Benson with three titles and my eyes told me he never lost yards, always fell forward.
Only saw Jonathan Gray in his last game, but he has numbers and titles out the Ying Yang.
Probably the best overall RB I saw in person was Dominic Rhodes from Cooper. Juts great at everything. He deserves a place in the discussion for me, but not at the very top.
One thing I think is important to keep in mind in these discussions is that if you think Earl is #2, or Ben Gay #5, I don’t think anyone is suggesting they’re not incredible and all time greats.
Great discussion though.👍 5Comment

I saw Gray in a losing performance against LT in the 2011 game I think it was. Incredible. He could not be stopped (even though they lost big). He even ran out of bounds several times rather than fight for 1 or 2 more, just really smart.👍 1Comment

For those who are thinking "Who the hell is Ben Gay" he's just the greatest running back in Texas History most people have never seen.
Former Spring High School star Gay rushed to nowhere (chron.com)👍 1Comment

Thought I post this graphic I found on Twitter. The amazing thing is three players rushed for over 3,800 yards in 2011.👍 4Comment

I've read a lot about him. One of my "heros" even tho it was decades before me. He was 6-1 205 at RB, it was pretty unfair, to say the least. Class B, at that time, could only play to the Regionals. If he played 16 games a yr and played 60-65 games, he'd have set records that would never have been touched going forward.👍 2Comment
