I'm pretty sure they also go there for a Baseball tournament, too? Not sure. Plus I think Lacrosse is more popular in Cali than it is Texas. I've always been fascinated by it ever since I saw it in one of those American Pie movies. I had no idea it was a real sport, lol.

Ihink the baseball team went out there last year with FM Marcus.
It’s a great sport, but clearly they can get better competition in state. They won 13-5, 15-5, and 11-9 against that weak sauce in CA.
Yeah I've watched some of their games on Youtube. Perhaps it's just for the experience? Who knows.
I’ve been told experience of travel isn’t important. Appears it’s ok for Lacrosse, baseball, band etc. but somehow it’s a problem for football. Who knew? Side note, hosting some kids from Liverpool England that will be here a soccer tournament in a few weeks. Need to let them know they’re wasting their time. 🙂

Isn't it about the number of players for football and the amount of equipment they have to bring with them?

The Southlake Band took 180+ people to Florida last spring and headed back there next year. I would say that's ~2 times the nuber of people and at least the same amount of equipment, right?
I'd be willing to bet a lot of that money was privately raised..
I would not take that bet and would 100% agree with you.
The point is, many say there is no reason to go out of state to play football. Nothing to prove, too much money, etc.
Southlake Carroll isn't the only one, just the one that popped in my Twitter feed.
They are ok with funding and sending the baseball team to California (who was focused enough to win the state title that year), a ~30 member Lacrosse team to CA for competition and they lose to metroplex teams, and ~180+ members of the band to Florida.
My ultimate point is that travelling out of state, CLEARLY is seen as beneficial to students and saying teams don't travel because of competition or lack of funds seems silly to me.
Heck DeSoto travelled to Oregon to play, and then played a crazy team from Maryland in FW and won a state title this year.
Seems like we need to come up with new reasons for not playing in out of state games.
Lake Highlands playing in Florida this season (goin 1-2 against teams from Georgia, Virginia and California) doesn't appear to have distracted them from their goal in winning the state championship.
I do not think Dragon Lacrosse is affiliated with Carroll ISD. I think it’s still a club sport. I know most of the larger school’s have a Lacrosse team . i still think coaches and funding is privately raised. At least it was several years back. Band raises it money through parking at the stadium for football games. I’m sure there are other fund raising mechanisms as well and I’m sure some tax payer monies were used also. Baseball pretty much spent there budget on the trip to California the last couple of years. The Booster Club helped fund the baseball trip I be leave.

Lacrosse is a "club" sport and I'm sure is 100% team funded as is the Band trip I'm sure, families pay and there is fundraising.
I have a difficult time imagining that the band parents, Lacrosse parents and Baseball teams can pay/raise funds but the most popular organization in the city couldn't.

It varies from district to district. Take SLC for example. I'm sure a lot of those funds were privately raised or through the booster club. NS doesn't have a booster club so getting from Texas to Florida or California would be a lot more challenging.
