In Texas the only possible comparable is East Houston. Outside of Texas probably some Florida areas. I can't speak to Georgia or California.

Smart teams know this and hire their coaches to tap in. McGuire and Kay for example. Mathis at one time. Sample's son.

The greater Miami area is pretty loaded for sure.

Your school self recruits when you win. That is just the way it is.

I mean we could probably combine all of West Texas (Permian Basin, Lubbock and Amarillo) into one program, cherry picking all the talent and not even come close to one of these schools, lol.

Just Miami-Dade County by itself would give good competition to that. Add Broward County and it's even more.

Lots of really good areas of talent in Florida. I remember hearing they don't have a system like Texas with a UIL and the pay is way less than what coaches get in Texas.

They have the FHSAA, the Florida version of UIL. But yeah, the minimum starting salary for teachers in FL I believe is $47,500. And the stipends are pitiful in Florida too. I make more just teaching in TX than I would teaching and coaching multiple sports in FL. On top of that, they just don't pour resources into most high schools and school districts like they do in Texas. Weight rooms aren't as big, Idk who if anyone has an indoor facility. Stadiums are nowhere near what they are in Texas, at least at the big school levels.

I've always maintained that the talent level between TX and FL is very similar, almost the same. The differences lie in Texas being willing to spend on football and Florida not.

Little League has made the talent pool grow even larger IMO. Don't get me wrong it has always been serious around here, but now kids are playing nationally and learning a lot more about the game heading into high school. I think that's why we are seeing so many kids being ready to play varsity ball day 1. Generational talent type kids seem to come around quite often and even at the same time now.

Everyone can recruit illegally... Not everyone can have an open enrollment pipeline.

A few years ago Florida top classification state championship drew 3,800 fans.

Dade County has so much dense poverty. The numbers might be similar but they are all on top of each other and grow up playing each other over there. The transferring is even more extreme, too, not even counting the private schools. Seems like Broward is passing Dade in some ways recently. The private schools make me think of Westlake or SLC if they got to cherry pick 7-8 kids from Duncanville or North Shore and add them to what they already have. Then let them practice against each other daily.

Another cool comparison is the Muck area (Glades Central, Pahokee, etc) compared to East Texas. Pound for pound, just unbelievable talent. It seems like the Muck area might be fading away a little though, sadly. Have heard related to the sugar cane industry.

I'm going to push back on this a little. I've seen a lot of good kids come through the city and state the past 20+ years generational type but I can honestly say I can't think of one who was ready to play on varsity day one. Now after about 2-3 months of practicing and working out with the older kids maybe get a few reps here and there but not one that could come in and start right away
