Exactly! You have a larger talent pool to choose from. Now you have too have winning record to get those kids to come out and play football. Your going to have low numbers if the program is not winning. Many coaches are not successful because they do not get involved with these kids in middle school and start that winning culture. Numbers is not everything but if everything else is equal it is a huge advantage.

Of course, bigger schools have greater potential to have big numbers in the program, but it's no guarantee. There are probably 4A programs with more kids in football than some 6A schools.

They are in 6-6A. Five of the eight schools in that district have over 4k students (Coppell, Lewisville, Plano, Plano East and Plano West).

Its actually shocking that a lot of people don't understand that. I bet damn near every kid at Carthage plays football while Aldine can barely find 100 kids to come out

His track stats compare to Payton Bowen’s who I know runs a low 4.4 to a high 4.3, so that number may be true of a sort. He may run a high 4.3 or z low 4.4
    He's definitely a low 4.4 high 4.3 kid

They are the largest remaining but not the largest in D2 this year. That honor belongs to Coppell High with 4088 as of last realignment.

It'll be interesting to see what the next snapshot does for Katy....because I suspect it could tick up as we wait for the newest high school (to Katy's north) to open in 2024.

The feelers I've gotten from teachers at Katy HS is 3400+ students was/is a real stretch to accommodate. The target (so I'm told) is suppose to be 3000.

I know another teacher at Morton Ranch who said it was brutal there when they were over 3600 just prior to Paetow's opening. Now under 3000 students, the teachers find it so much better (w/o the overcrowded classrooms!)...but that drop out has taken an already low-numbers football program and thinned it out even more. They barely have enough kids to field two freshman teams, and still only enough for one JV team.
