If they are going to play at NRG they should make it a double header. Katy vs King and North Shore vs Atascocita would make a great HS football weekend. I wish the SLC/Guyer and Lewisville/Prosper was a double header at the Star.

And there you have it, well said.

Right, I think this past weekend was the first weekend of any HS games at NRG since 2019.

Interesting about King that they have modeled their program after NS even going so far as hiring some coaches if I’m not mistaken. Win or lose, here they are on the R3 championship game. Katy will take this one but King has come a long way.

Take Bailey out of the QB equation, and that's a big reason why the top-4 in 21-6A played so many close games this year -- they all mirror each other in many ways.

The crazy thing about King, Cita, and SC is that they are stacked in so many areas of the field, EXCEPT the one area where it really matters the most....namely, the QB.

Atascocita hasn’t had a truly decorated and elite quarterback ever, AFAIK. They’ve just played whoever was the best athlete and could throw 50+ yards to D1 receivers (this year not so much). It’s worked out I guess, but I’d like to see at least a lower level D1 quarterback come through at some point.

We have had a now-NBA player play on the football team (temporarily), but I highly doubt anyone will remember… Carsen Edwards played football for Atascocita his freshman and sophomore year. He ended up foregoing his junior and senior years in football for basketball instead. He played for Purdue and went on to play a bit for the Celtics, but now he plays for the Detroit Pistons. He was easily the best football player on the field when he did play, sad he chose basketball but I guess it worked out. Considering the three other NFL players that came through Atascocita, Carsen Edwards was the best athlete and it wasn’t even close.

Is Cardae Mack an athlete playing QB or is he a legit QB?

They also took our 2015 offensive strategy with them. They need to develop a better offense if they wanna make it further.

He’s an athlete playing QB. He played one time this season at quarterback for a few snaps in one of the games, but I forgot which one. He was wearing #30 I think.

Cardae Mack looks more to me as an athlete playing QB than a legit QB, he is a phenomenal runner. BUT again...and I only got to see him play against Katy Freshman red team when they gave Katy Red their only loss of the season 18-15....He was a handful in the first half and made a bunch of really nice runs. If you watch his HUDL highlights from his freshman season, they are mainly very nice runs with some throws here and there. I am not saying he can't throw the ball, but looks more like an athlete playing QB who has a solid enough arm....

If I'm not mistaken, King is a much more balanced offense than they've been. In previous years, run to pass yardage ratio has been in the 70/30 range. This year they are around 55/45.
If the defense can make a few stops and be disciplined, and the offense can execute without shooting themselves in the foot, this will be a much closer game than most think it will be.

Oh and proof of the 55/45 ratio is below.
                              5257 total yards
                              2941 rushing yards (55.9%)
                              2316 passing yards (44.1%)
