You might be right. I'd say a possible 1-1, beat Lubbock and lose to Wylie. Out of all the pools though, it's the easiest.

    • Boredom post: Would you rather have a...11-1, 12-1 season with a state ranking, outright district championship or a 9-5, 11-4 record? One looks prettier than the other. One is definitely better than the other. Obvious what most would pick lol

State ranking’s don’t mean what they once did. People once got hyped over them, not much anymore. I prefer consistency, 3rd round or deeper playoff runs every year shows consistency in a program and garners some respectability. Outright district titles are nice, but share district titles are a “ everyone gets a trophy “ mentality. Even 3rd round playoff runs with a couple of losses is much better than losing in the first round with no losses or a single loss. Just shows you played weak competition overall.

Well if my math is correct here, 11-1 indicates a first round exit. 12-1 means you lost in the 3rd round, a pretty good result, as far as Permian is concerned these days (haven't achieved that type of record or outcome since 2008, I believe). 9-5 Would indicate a 6-4 type season and losing in the 4th round. 11-4 would be a semi-final loss after a 7-3 regular season?

I think it's obvious which one is more desired.

District champ in some districts related to a participation trophy from a statewide perspective. Meaningful for home town folks and fans within a 145 mile radius. Give me 14 to 16 games regardless of win loss record.

                      • Of note, Amarillo High got stranded on I-27 coming into town...apparently the interstate was shut down in Tulia due to high water and state troopers wouldn't let them pass

I think Odessa High will have a solid team next season, especially on offense.

Interesting that Midland Legacy wasn't in this tournament.
