Not buying the Clear Falls hype Dickinson and Springs have better teams imo have them finishing 3rd. Dickinson is the favorite to win the district as they should be with two A&M commits in Donovan Green and PJ Williams. Dickinson does has a new QB this year but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal because Dickinson’s double qb system was a weakness for them last year. Dickinson’s defense has some good young talent and will only get better over time as they gain more experience.
For Springs they have a new head coach this year who has served as the HC at La Porte for two years. Before that he was the DC at Springs for multiple years. The kids and parents seem to like him so I have high hopes for him. He brought in a lot of new guys to the coaching staff including a new OC who is changing the offensive scheme to more of a spread style offense with 4 WR sets. Under Coach Dailey Springs went for more of a Katy style offense often running sets with 1 TE, 1 FB, and 2 WR, but now they are going to be running an offense that is closer to what they ran when the school first opened.
I think the Springs offense will be pretty good this year as they are headlined by A&M commit Noah Thomas at WR. Also in the WR room there is junior Ashton Schumann who has a big 6’3 frame with good speed I’ve been hearing very good things about him after the two scrimmages and he should be a major contributor this season. For the RB’s there are two really good ones in Ky Woods and Xai’Shaun Edwards who will see significant playing time this year. Woods is going to be a 3rd year starter with plenty of experience he has good size and speed and is entering the season with offers from Tulane and Air Force if he has the season I expect him to have I can easily see him getting some late offers from other schools. Woods will also likely line up in the slot on some plays this year so he is certainly a good weapon to have. Edwards who is only a sophomore is the other RB that will see significant playing time this year. Last year he was a freshman playing on varsity which shows how talented he is. Edwards is going to be a valuable weapon as he will allow Woods to line up as the slot WR on many plays while still having a big weapon in the backfield.
The oline was a weakness last year and it probably won’t be that good this year but I can’t see it being any worse as the unit returns 4 starters including the 3 sophomores who started last year. They have bulked up over the offseason and have more experience so I’m expecting at least some improvement. I still think they are going to have issues against more physical defenses but I’m hoping it’s better this year. There is a new starting QB this year also who was in line to start last year before he got injured in a scrimmage he should be solid and has good mobility.
The defense is going to be really young this year only returning 2 starters it will be a major work in progress early on but I hope by the end of the season they develop into a solid defense.👍 3 -
Springs has a lot of kids returning and Dickinson just can't seem to put it all together when they need to. I'm taking Springs as the district champs both with second round exits in the playoffs👍 1Comment

I’m gonna tell it like it is as far as Dickinson goes.
The defense is gonna be very tough… NO DOUBT…
The offense has actually three QB as a transfer who is a junior this year stands 6’5 and weighs 205 plus. He looks really good but looks as if he is new to the system.
Our problem seems to be coaching talent such as the two A&M recruits as well as Mr. Wydermyer at A&M. Just my opinion.
The offense has extreme potential to say the least and the starting QB is no slouch with good plus speed as well as eyes that see the field.
All in all it’s gonna be our specific coaching that matters but at the scrimmage at 7 lakes I was quite pleased with the defense…Comment

Big game next week Dickinson @ Clear Falls. I have Dickinson winning by 10, but I can see it going either way and being a good game.👍 1Comment

Without much research into the respective teams, I agree on Dickinson by 10 over Falls.
While I’ve been backing the Chargers for years, my son’s put me into an interesting situation by getting accepted into the Clear Brook robotics program. He’s also a freshman marching Wolverine. Brook’s football team is an unknown heading into this season. They are playing stronger and more physical football than I’ve ever seen them play before under Coach Towels, their second year head coach. It remains to be seen how they will play against Springs, Dickinson, and Falls, but I don’t think the Wolverines will be the easy opponent that they’ve often been in the past.Comment
