  • LSWC Championship Game: Midland @ San Angelo Central - 7:30pm Friday, 10/28

The winner of this game clinches at least a share of the 2-6A district title. Midland's final game is vs. Odessa, so if they beat Central they likely win district outright. If Central beats Midland, they finish at Tascosa so there'd at least be hope for an upset for Midland to get a share of the district title.

AP #7 Central is 8-0, Midland 7-1 with their only loss coming by six to AP #2 DeSoto.

Both teams have high scoring spread offenses that feature balanced attacks. Central's defense has been significantly better than Midland's on paper.

    Central average score 53-16.
    Midland average score 43-31.

My thoughts... Central is very strong at home and difficult to beat. I expect a big crowd that creates a heck of a home field advantage. I think Central has the better defense and will get more stops than Midland and Central completes the district 4-peat.

      I'm taking Midland by 29-28.

Here's how they pull if off:
The 'dogs score late to make it 28-27. They go for the two-point conversion, and pull it off, to take the lead, 29-28, with less than a minute to play. Central gets the ball back, but throws an interception. MHS then runs out the clock!

In that scenario, if it's not far under a minute, I'm extremely confident Central would score and win 36-29.

I think Central can get to 40 and hold Midland to 30 or below.

This should be a barn burner. I have no idea who will take it. Wish I could be there. The atmosphere will be electric. I hope one or both teams make a deep playoff run. It would be good for Texas HS football to have a west Texas team in the hunt near the end or even win it.

SAC can control this game on the ground and should, just don't give MHS to many chances they can burn you...SAC defense is without doubt the better, MHS does have a few good athletes on defense who can make plays, just not enough...SAC wins

I have seen some highlights and the offense looks really impressive with speed burner receivers. I wonder why they don't score more and have more offensive plays in some games. It would help to be able to see series of plays instead of random plays. Maybe they can get big plays but not sustain drives consistently?

Its a good thing Midland Highs run D isn't great or they would house SAC.

Midland's QB intercepted 7 times seems to be a lot for a very good offense. I can see the Bobcats getting one or two and possibly returning for six.

Maybe because THIS is a catch?

Just having fun. One call doesn't matter in a blowout.

Permian ran 31 more plays than MHS..nearly doubled them in 1st downs , but MHS had more than 100 yds of offense...saw a 10 play off. clip against Permian which they avg. 35.2 yds a play, the other 35 plays a little over 3 yds a play..It was big plays against Permian.

That looks like a lot of team sacks to me. Impressive.

If SAC is truly #7 and at home then they should win handly. I'm thinking SAC has a good week of prep and got a wake up call against OP and run the offense that got em where they are.

Ha, how long have you waited to bring that up? It evened out because an earlier clean catch by him in bounds was called incomplete (first play of the following video). http://www.hudl.com/video/3/4156817/...1e323cf827dc28

He also had one that was definitely a catch called incomplete at Lee (amazingly it would have been his only reception in that game).
