    ON THIS DATE IN LOBO HISTORY: September 8th
    In 1950, Sonny Jones and Jerry Matthews each rushed for two scores a’piece as the Lobos held Denton High to 57 total yards in a 41-0 beat down of the Broncos at Lobo Stadium.
    In 1967, Ralph Blount’s 31-yard field goal in the first quarter proved to be the difference as Steve Judy’s Lobos knocked off Woodrow Wilson, 10-7, in front of over 8,000 fans at Lobo Stadium.
    In 1972, four different Lobos rushed for scores including Mike Mock’s season opening 4-yard rush in the first quarter as Longview defeated Dallas Jesuit at Haggar Stadium, 27-0.
    In 1978, five different Lobos tallied including a 78-yard interception return by Ed Jackson in a 34-0 Longview win over Dallas Thomas Jefferson at Cobb Stadium. Longview held the Patriots to 88 total yards while the Lobos piled up 468 yards themselves.
    In 1989, North Mesquite led 12-0 head into the fourth quarter before Sewlyn Broughton rushed for two scores to lift the Lobos past the Stallions, 15-12, at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. The Lobos held North to 132 total yards.
    In 1995, Isiah Stoker tallied two scores while Jeff Works kicked a 37-yard field goal in a 17-7 Longview win to open the season at Lobo Stadium over Waco High. Stoker’s 72-yard third quarter rush highlighted the offense.
    In 2000, Cedric Benson showed why he was one of the top backs in the nation with four rushing scores on the night, including an 85-yard in the second quarter, as the defending state champion Midland Lee Rebels walloped Longview, 40-7, at Memorial Stadium.
    In 2006, Longview and Marshall rushed for 739 yards as Jazmon Moon tallied four touchdowns in a 38-35 Longview win over the Mavs at Lobo Stadium.
    In 2017, after a 40-yard opening quarter score, the Lobos came to lift with 41 unanswered as Longview rolled over Marshall, 41-7, at Lobo Stadium. The Lobos rushed for 285 yards on the night behind two Jesse Anderson touchdowns.
