Season Opener: Sat, Aug 31 vs 6A Laredo United South

-The Wagner Thunderbirds were up 17-7 in the 5A D1 semis before Shadow Creek exploded in the 2nd half, ending their best season in School History. Wagner will be a state contender this season for the 2nd straight year in 5A DI and the high powered Wing-T will be lead by Junior RB/FB L.J. Butler coming off an All-State 2,000 yard season. All District and Hon. Mention All -State Senior DE DeMarcus Hendricks will lead the T-Birds hard hitting defense.

    2.Kerrville Tivy(D2)- 2018 Finish(12-1; Lost to Port Lavaca Calhoun 49-39 in the 5A D2 Regional Semi-finals)
Season Opener: Aug. 30th vs Dripping Springs
-The Antlers are coming off a strong 2018 season behind their Dual Threat Athlete Karson Valverde who is now at Harding University. QB Trapper Pannell took snaps under center last year with success and will be figured to head the offense for Tivy this season. Senior CB Zach Layton will one of the leaders for the Antlers Defense Unit.

    3. Veterans Memorial(D1)- 2018 Finish(8-4; Lost to Mission Veterans Memorial 48-23 in the 5A D1 Area Round),
Season Opener: Aug. 30th vs Floresville

-The Patriots had a successful First -Year Varsity Season which ended in a 2nd round loss to Mr. Texas Football QB Landry Gilpin and the Vets Memorial Eagles out of Mission. For the 2019 season, the new bloods are looking to improve by getting revenge on some of their non district foes and their Judson ISD district rival(#1 Wagner) in this years edition of the Freedom Bowl. Senior DE Dresden McIver is one of the best Defensive Lineman in the Area and will look to flex his muscle and lead the Senior Heavy Patriots squad up front.

    4. Harlan(D1)- 2018 Finish(8-4; Lost to CC Veterans Memorial 21-58 in the 5A D1 Area Round)
Season Opener: Aug.30th vs 6A Holmes

    - After the Harlan Hawks got a taste of 5A D1 in their First Year Varsity Season, don't be surprised if they turn heads and make a deep postseason run. It would be very beneficial for new school Harlan to finish stronger this season because they are likely to be bumped up to 6A with the Rest of the Northside ISD Schools at the 2020 UIL realignment. Junior RB A.J. McDade will be the Workhorse for the Hawks Offense this season.

    5. Alamo Heights(D2)- 2018 Finish(8-4; Lost to CC Calallen 35-63 in the 5A D2 Area Round),
Season Opener: Aug. 30 vs 6A New Braunfels

    - The High Powered Mules Offense led to a few shootouts in the 2018 Regular Season, most notably a 64-62 3rd Overtime Loss to District Foe Kerrville Tivy. Junior QB Chase Chistianson, Senior QB Koby Love and Senior WR/CB Aaron Proctor( younger brother of the former Antlers Top WR Nik Proctor) will prepare to lead the 78209 boys to another playoff run for the 2019 season.

    6.Boerne Champion(D2)- 2018 Finish(7-4; Lost to Brenham 23-20 in the 5A D2 Bi-District Round)
Season Opener: Aug.30th vs 6A Stevens
-The Chargers from Boerne Slipped in the 1st round of the 5A D2 playoffs to the Brenham Cubs but they have a nice roster of returning Letterman for the 2019 season. Luke Boyers and Tamari Jenkins will be the players to watch for Champion.

    7. Southwest(D1)- 2018 Finish(10-2; Lost to CC Flour Bluff 35-21 in the 5A D1 Area Round)
Season Opener: Aug. 30th vs Roosevelt
-The Senior Heavy Dragons of 2018 looked poised to make a deep run but ended up falling to a solid Flour Bluff squad in the 2nd round of the 5A D1 playoffs. This year they will have to contend with Harlan for the 14-5ADI District Title. Look for Senior CB Makhi Johnson, two way Senior Ricardo Coronado and Senior QB Matthew Luna to lead the Dragons.

    8. Medina Valley(D2)- 2018 Finish(7-4; Lost to Leander Glenn 14-28 in the 5A D2 Bi-District Round)
Season Opener: Aug. 30 vs 4A Waco La Vega

-The Panthers from Castroville got hammered by 4ADI State Champ Waco La Vega in the 2018 Season Opener but ripped off seven straight games afterwards before losing tough late season games to Kerrville Tivy and Alamo Heights. The Panthers return a 1,200 yard ,18TD Rusher in Senior Bruiser James Gipson and Senior Charlie Marsh is projected to be the starting QB heading into the 2019 Season. They will compete for a 14-5AD2 District Crown but need to prepare hard for a second Season Opener with Waco La Vega coming in to defend their 4A DI crown.

    9.Southside(D2)- 2018 Finish(9-3; Lost 14-24 to Kerrville Tivy in the 5A D2 Area Round)
Season Opener: Aug 29th vs CC Moody

-The Cardinals had one of their best seasons in history as they racked up big District Wins over Port Lavaca Calhoun, Floresville, Gregory-Portland and Alice in the backend of the Regular Season before losing a close match to Kerrville Tivy in the Second Round. Senior QB/DB Alejandro Escamilla and 1st team All-State WR Michael Hernandez(1,104 yards and 18 TDs last season) will be back to power the squad from the 1604 South Area.

    T10. Somerset(D2)- 2018 Finish (7-4; Lost to Mission Sharyland 21-28 in the 5A D2 Bi-District Round)
Season Opener: Aug 30 vs Brackenridge

    - The Bulldogs were in the 2018 Deuce Dyme 5A rankings for the entire season which includes a close 16-17 District win over Southside, but couldn't finish strong to close out the season , losing to Solid District Foes such as Calhoun, Powerhouse Calallen and Floresville, while Southside won against two out those three teams with a better playoff run. QB will be a lingering question but will have a decent Run game for the upcoming 2019 season.

    T10. Seguin(D1) 2018 Finish (7-4; Lost to Georgetown in the 5AD1 Bi-District Round
Season Opener:Aug.30 vs TAPPS D1 Antonian Prep

-The Matadors has a rough start to the 2018 opening with a close loss to TAPPS DI Antonian Prep and 6A New Braunfels before Winning Seven Straight Games including wins over Austin McCallum and Dripping Springs. Looking at Max Preps, 4-Star DB And Ohio State commit Senior Lejond Cavazos has been added to the Matadors roster, but looks to be all in for his second and final High School season at IMG academy in Florida.
