If Al Bundy existed in real life and would brag to Trevor Speights about his four touchdowns in one game, Mr. Speights could say, hey that's impressive, but...

Did you know that I scored SEVEN in one game?

Seven, folks. Not a misprint. Not a six-man contest. Trevor Speights scored seven touchdowns before the end of the 3rd quarter and Palmview simply couldn't stop him.

His quick jukes and burst of speed past the Lobo defenders as they flailed helplessly to catch him was common in the game. When the Lobo defenders were in front, he would run through them. He could run around them and he did so but Trevor Speights wasn't afraid of contact by any means and made defenders pay when they tried to tackle him.

By the end of the first half. It was 42-21. Speights' TD barrage didn't stop there. When Speights left the game late in the 3rd, it was 63-21.

The only thing that went wrong for McAllen Memorial was the missed extra point on touchdown Number TEN!

This game simply didn't seem fair. Even if the Lobo defense would zero in on Speights, quarterback Jonathan Sanchez could throw a bomb and he did. A perfect strike to DJ Johnson for a 60 yd score to increase the lead to 35-14.

Sanchez also could scramble to get first downs and he did a few times. Speights could also catch a shovel pass to gain more yards. Speights wasn't the only one to rush the ball. The Mustangs had other rushers that also gained yds aplenty. Eric Mendez took over the workload for Speights in the 4th quarter and ended up with 84 yds rushing and his own TD. JoJo Williams had a touchdown and 75 yds rushing.

Palmview's plan was to play toe to toe on offense with the Mustangs. Make this a high scoring affair but the Lobos simply couldn't keep up. When the Lobos had a turnover on downs in the 2nd quarter, that pretty much sealed the deal. The Lobos had some success running in between the tackles. The line of the Lobos is huge and got a nice push but as the game wore on, the Memorial defense was able to slip through the gaps and not allow the QB option to work or any dive plays.

In the second half, the Memorial defense didn't let Palmview get into any kind of rhythm and the secondary was huge with interceptions. Joey Delgado had one impressive interception and Irvin Guajardo had a big interception to kill a Palmview drive and each INT was followed by a Speights TD.

Palmview did not score a single point in the second half. The Memorial defense did a fine job shutting down a pretty solid team and the offense did the rest.

A fantastic team win by the Mustangs who are heads and shoulders above the rest of the teams in the Rio Grande Valley.
